Our MOMS: 7 Reasons Why We Love Them (happy mother’s day!)

Your mom.

That wonderful human being… who… gave you life, wiped boogers from your nose, and listened affectionately to long, boring stories about your day at school.

In honor of mother’s day, here’s seven big reasons why we love our moms:

Your mom sees how special you are. Always.

When the rest of the world treats you unfairly. When life seems overwhelming. When the people around you seem to hide their kindness. Your mom will be there – to lift you up, and remind you that you are her greatest achievement. And that you are not only special to her, but to everyone you meet.

Your mom inspires you to be a better person.

Sometimes we choose the easy route. And sometimes we choose the path we know is wrong. We are merely humans, and our decisions are not perfect. But, we can always count on mom to steer us back in the right direction. Whether we are 5, 25, or 55. She knows the vastness of your potential. And the greatness that you sometimes hide. And she will find a way to bring it out of you.

Your mom keeps your ego in check.

Big egos. Ugh. The downfall of many. And an ego does not necessarily mean you have an inflated sense of self. You could also allow your ego to lower your self-esteem. So, whether you are elevating yourself above others to the point of being obnoxious, or you are bringing yourself down into the doldrums. Mom is there to keep you in reality – a place where you love and respect others, with the same love and respect you show yourself.

Your mom is proud of you, even when you think you’ve failed.

There are plenty of times in life when we come up short. We had a goal in mind. And it escaped us. The reasons for this outcome are many. But the one constant is your mother. She’ll give you a hug to remind you that when you fall, the only thing to do is get up. Get going. And be strong. The world is there for all of us…so show ‘em what you got.

Your mom ensures that you cherish your roots.

The world is a pretty crazy place. Impressions are thrown at us all day long. It’s hard to know sometimes which way is up, and which way is down. The world in which we grew-up is gone. Is that good or bad? I have no idea. But. I do know this. Your mom will help you to always remember from where you came. The values with which you were raised. The morals that guide you. And, the heritage that contributes to your unique viewpoint and outlook.

Your mom loves you unconditionally. That’s right. Unconditionally!

Your mom will love you no matter what you do or say. Wow.

Enough said.

Your mom is a part of you. And she will be for eternity.

Whether your mom is still with us, or has passed on. She will always be a part of who you are. The connection is one of nature’s grandest, and neither time nor distance can break the bond. Your mom is in your heart, mind and soul. Forever.

Happy Mother’s Day to moms across the globe! With a special shout out to two very special mothers in my life – my own terrific mother, and of course, my beautiful wife, who’s the mother of our wonderful daughter!

  7. My mom has an uncanny way of knowing when I’m going through tough situations. Out of the blue, she’ll call me or show up at my house and try to cheer me up without probing and prodding. It’s one of the things I totally adore about her. 🙂

    Needless to say, as a mom myself:), these are beautiful statements and testaments. Motherhood is a role like no other and it is wonderful to be acknowledged but without a doubt it is SO MUCH better to be loved!! My hope and wish would be for all the moms this reaches to be blessed with what I have- incredible,loving, thoughtful children who hold my heart!
