Hi Everyone! Hope you all are having an awesome weekend! Ok…so, here it is – video footage of my stand-up comedy performance at Flappers Comedy Club in Los Angeles.
Just one disclaimer – I am an adult telling jokes to other adults. Soooo…it is probably not a good idea to play my video in front of your little kids. My humor is intended for a mature crowd, that is immature. haha
Hope you enjoy! 🙂

love your last paragraph, Kevin. Hey, how’s it going, the stand-up?

Thanks John! It’s going well. I have a Friday night show coming up in a few weeks. Audience should be around 200 people. It’s a real adrenaline rush going on stage 😎

That’s great , Kevin. I know what you mean. I get a buzz from performing my comic poems — and writing them — though audiences, except on special occasions, rarely outnumber 50. I love watching clips from comedy festivals like Montreal

So true, re: the lawyer joke. I used to work in a court, and along with other court staff, had to endure child-like tantrums from one judge in particular on a regular basis. His career law clerk was constantly reminding all of us how when the judge was *away* from the court he was the nicest guy to be around. We were used to nod our head in acknowledgement and respond with something along the lines of “Well, that’s great, except we have to be around him HERE at work!”

Hello! Thank you so much! Congrats on your granddaughter. That’s awesome. Has a name been chosen??

The name was discussed and rediscussed a lot 🙂 I think they don’t know yet. First two children had names right after the scan 🙂

Cute names! 🙂 We don’t have boys 🙂 Sienna Rose is a lovely name. I will ask my daughter if there is any progress with choosing the name. Two of the last candidates were Juniper or Mabel…

I vote for your names!

Thank you! But we still have to choose between them. I personally vote for Juniper. The second name will be one of the great grandmothers .

LOL. Thank you!! I would love that. It is just so tough to find the time to perform more, and get even better. Have so many other responsibilities. But, I will keep at it, and keep thinking positive. I am so glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks again, and it is always great to hear your positive comments!

It is one of the hardest things to stand up there and make people laugh, but you’re a likeable guy and you kept it going, even if you are an albino Sasquatch! 😀

Hi Kevin! Way to go! 🙂 I was raised Catholic too, but I am now glad that I did not go to Catholic school. 😀 At least you did not get into trouble like one of my college professors did when he was young for accidentally hitting one of the nuns with a ball during recess and knocking the wimple (the head covering part of the nun habit) off of her head.
There is not much sympathy for lawyers, is there? At least you got a good laugh out of it. I have heard of people having one kind of persona at work and another away from work, but I think it would be hard for them to maintain that persona year after year if it was contradictory to who they really are.
Good for you that you were able to lose weight. It is not easy to change your eating habits and try to get more exercise especially if you have a lot of things to do. My dad struggles with changing his diet to keep his diabetes and other health problems under control, and he has not been very successful so far.
Congratulations on your second child. I can somewhat relate to what you are going through secondhand experience as an aunt to five small children. My brother and sister-in-law were pretty excited with the arrival of the first child, but by the time the fifth child showed up they were happy but exhausted. Yesterday I spent a few hours taking care of my youngest niece (kid #5) and had the ends of my long hair pulled several times and drool on my fingers and shirt sleeves by the end of my visit. I now appreciate the patience it takes to be a parent.
Thanks for making me laugh and thank you for liking “Drifting.” 🙂

Hi Arlene! Thanks so much for your kind words, and comment. Yeah, lawyers get a bad rap. Some of it is deserved, but for the most part, the majority of lawyers I have encountered are good people. Unfortunately, like most things in a life, a few bad apples spoil the bunch. Sounds like you are a great aunt. It must be nice to spend the day with the kids, and then leave when things get too crazy. haha Good luck to your dad. It for sure takes a shift in consciousness to change the way one eats. Luckily, I was able to do it. Have a wonderful weekend.

You are welcome. 🙂 Yes, it is too bad that the bad lawyers ruin the reputation of all lawyers. My grandfather on my mother’s side of the family studied law, but he did not become a lawyer. However, he ended up getting a job in the law field after marrying my grandmother. I did not get to know him because he died before I was born, but my mom told me over and over again that he was an honest person both on and off the job.
Yes, I have to admit that I am not an expert on children. 😀 I am the occasional helper who stops by during birthdays and special events. Those are the only times that I visit my brother and his family. They live a bit far away from me, and it is hard for me to go on long trips and be out for long periods because I am taking care of my dad and some pets.
Thanks. My dad sure needs the luck.
I understand what you mean by a shift in consciousness regarding eating. Both of my parents became diabetic when they got older, so I am trying to be careful about what I eat and exercise when I can. I am hoping that I will not end up like them. At the last place I worked, people looked at me like an alien because I would turn down pizza, fried chicken, and other large spreads of food at work. It was hard to stick out and have to explain my situation over and over again, but it is also hard to have to give yourself insulin shots twice a day and have trouble walking because diabetes has damaged the nerves in your lower legs and feet. The occasional junk food snack or holiday feast probably won’t do you any serious harm, but the trouble comes when every day becomes a holiday.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend too, Kevin. 🙂

You are absolutely right. Nothing wrong with splurging once and a while. I love ice cream! But, it’s when our whole diet becomes “junk food” that it’s time for concern. I am happy to hear you are smart about your food choices. Who cares if people look at you funny because you are looking out for your health. People love to judge other people. Just know that you are taking care of yourself, and that’s a wonderful thing! Thanks for sharing and have a terrific week. Talk to you soon, Arlene!

You are welcome, Kevin. Sadly, that is what has happened to the diet of many people. Yes, you are right. I just think to myself that most of the people around me probably have not had the experience of seeing what can happen to you if you don’t eat properly and take care of yourself. When my dad got older, he had one too many pastries at work on a regular basis for many years. He and his co-workers would even bet on football games with doughnuts instead of dollars! My mother ate a lot more highly processed packaged food when she got older too. I am thinking their diabetes was caused by their diet more than genetics because as far as I know there are no other relatives in my family who are diabetic.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week too, Kevin. 🙂
