“There is pleasure in the pathless woods. There is rapture on the lonely shore. There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea and music in its roar. I love not man the less, but Nature more.” –Lord Byron
Hello friends! I recently came across the above quote. And it encapsulates everything I feel about nature (well, not everything but hyperbole is fun). 🙂
For me – heading into the wild is not just a physical excursion, but a mental and spiritual expedition as well.
My kids are only 5 and 3, but they already feel a deep connection to the natural beauty that our planet has to offer. And that’s because we’ve been taking them hiking since they were infants.
Yes, they complain that’s its too hot, too cold, too windy, too sunny, and they are tired. haha But, they eventually fight through it — especially after I bribe them with a cookie (if they successfully complete our mini journey). 🙂
Here are some shots I recently took while traversing the wilds of Malbu. When you spend some time in Malbu’s wild mountains and beaches, you quickly understand why the rich and famous reside there. It’s truly a magnificent area.
I hope you enjoy the photos. Have a wonderful day!! 🙂

I adore Malibu! I was sent there to meet Charles Bronson, once ago. It was a fabulous, magnificent place. I will never forget it.

Your young ones might complain about minor things now. But when they’re older they’ll remember what a cool thing hiking was with their folks. Hopefully your love of nature will also pass on to them.

I love that lizard! It patiently stood there so I could grab a cool shot 😂. That day, we must have seen 35 different lizards. All shapes, sizes and colors. Assuming not all were lizards. And some were chameleons or geckos. 😄Thanks for the kind words!! Hope you are well. 😎

These really are magnificent photos and go so well with the great quote.. It looks a marvellous place to take your kids to enjoy Nature – even if they do need a Cookie bribe now and then. 😀

Hey! Great to hear from you. Who doesn’t love a cookie bribe, right? Lol If it wasn’t for candy and cookies, it’d be total chaos. Kids wouldn’t listen. It’d be a kid uprising 😂😂. Thanks for the kind words. Have a great weekend!😎

Wow, indeed! I love Malibu. I just don’t get there every time I am in California since it is quite a ride from Costa Mesa up there. But it is such a beautiful place. How is Point Dume doing after the fire? Is everything growing again?

Hi Erika, nice to hear from you. A lot of the nature affected by the fire has lots of new growth. It’s amazing to see the green mixed in with the charred trees. It didn’t take long for new life to emerge. Hope you are doing really well!! 😊😉

My, I am so glad to hear that nature is recovering so well. Must be a peculiar scenery with the burned trees in between. The hope that blossoms over whatever happened.
Thank you, I am doing good, Kevin. Just too much going on for a while which keeeps me from doing what I would love to do. But it will get better in a few weeks.
How is your family doing? Your daughter must be around 7 years, right?

I totally understand. I’ve been extremely busy too. Trying to squeeze in time for my passions is difficult but I do my best to make it work. By the end of the day, I’m beyond exhausted haha. My daughter is 5 and my son is 3. We are doing great. Sienna is finishing up kindergarten in a few weeks. We are so proud of how well she did in school this year. And equally proud of our Flynn, who is an energetic, funny and friendly little guy. How about you and your family – any new updates? You guys doing well?

Oh, wow, I remember, Sienna was tall already when we met. Perhaps that is why I added 2 years😄So good d to hear how they are doing.
We have had a lot going. My husband and I were separated for 2 years but moving in together next month again. Also we are renovating the house right now. I am working full time next to my therapie practice and my writing. My daughter married last year, my older son is in his 2nd year of university, and my younger son is in his first year of apprenticeship. You see, not boring at all😂

Your pictures are extraordinary and always a joy, thank you. I also love nature and
feel how right it is to introduce your children,to meet and know the mysteries out there,
from early years.
They will continue loving outdoors forever.

Hi Kevin, wonderful images and a great post. I lived on the east coast where there was plenty of beach access and I have to say there is nothing like the gorgeous, natural beaches of California, happy to see those natural untouched beaches.

Hi Laura! Thanks for the kind words. I agree – the beaches in California are awesome. And much different than the east coast beaches, which are also great (just different). I grew up in NY, so I spent a lot of my youth at the Jersey Shore. Great to hear from you! 😎
