The façade has crumbled,
Before our very eyes.
The things we held dear,
Shrouded in lies.
The world has changed in inexplicable ways,
Long for innocence, how I miss those days.
Now we’re confronted with a distasteful truth,
Listen closely for the proof.
They exert power, but pretend its love,
Fool me not, you contrarian dove.
Anger upon rage, and more of the same,
A wild heart can never be tame.
Try to contain and smother,
Never do I wish, to control another.
Open your heart, engage your mind,
You’ll be surprised at what you find.
A soul who wants just peace and love,
And every now and then, a gentle breeze from above.

Thanks Michele! I need to hire you as my publicist! 😂 That’s very cool of you to say. Seriously, I try to find reason and rationality in our new world order. It’s lacking in every direction. It’s pretty freaky.

I’d be a great publicist for you, lol. I hear you on this crazy new world. It’s so hard raising kids and helping the newly adult ones. I have four grandkids ages 13 – 18 and I’m amazed how well they are traveling through this maze. So much has been asked of you parents and you’re doing a great job! Looking forward to more of your poems 🙂

Hi Kevin, great to see you are writing poems again. This is very appropriate for the whole world at the moment. I have lost 2 people I have been close to for many years in the space of 2 weeks – your last line of ‘And every now and then, a gentle breeze from above’ is perfect. Thankyou

Beautiful Photography! I love scenes with nothing to spoil the beauty of nature. The poem is thought provoking.

Thanks so much for saying that – I was hoping to stir thought in those that read the poem. And yes, I totally agree. Landscape shots without power lines dangling from above are superior. Take care! 🙂

My wife and I always end our cards and letters with “love and peace.” Still got some of the old hippie in us. Enjoyed your poem, Kevin. Always happy to hear of your mindful and positive elements.

Beautiful photography, and words relevant for our times. I feel as you do, that the “facade” has fallen away, and we can see more clearly than ever the deceptions. I saw a quote from Solzhenitsyn today: “We know they are lying, they know they are lying, they know we know they are lying, we know they know we know they are lying, but they are still lying.”

haha, I have to laugh at the quote because it’s so true. It’s quite disturbing. I just try to keep my sanity by enjoying myself. Thanks for the kind words!

You can always do what we are doing as we wait to be blown into the gulf. Listen to some vintage live Rolling Stones to honor Charlie and he’ll bring you some temporary peace.

I like it! Funny you say that because tonight I’m attending a concert in a nearby park to see – a Rolling Stones tribute band. Be safe, my friend! I’m pulling for you all.
