“Colors Aplenty” (California’s Central Coast)
Hello Friends! It’s been way too long since I’ve posted something. I’ve missed conversing with you all. Hope everyone is doing great. 🙂

“I am a rock, I am an island” (California’s Central Coast)
Recently, my wife and I took our three-year old daughter, and 8-month old son on a mini road trip up the California coast to a region called Big Sur. This immaculate 85-mile stretch of wild, pristine coastline has been dubbed the “greatest meeting of land and water in the world.”

“The Sun and Mist” (California’s Central Coast)
We barely scratched the surface with our visit (as you would expect with two small kids.) So, my photos only reflect a small portion of the vast wilderness. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed taking the photos. Have a wonderful day!

Kevin: Thanks for the, like, on Artie the curious Squirre at Elm Drive Images. The New Year came and went while I was counting sheep. Went to bed @ 9PM. Some genius did blow off a huge bunch of M80s or Cherry Bombs about 10 PM and almost blew the wife and I out of Bed.

Hi Kevin! 🙂 Thank you for liking “The Witch’s Well” and “Wild Turkey Wandering.” Fantastic photos! Some of California’s beaches and coastal areas are magnificent. Big Sur must be even more impressive to see in person. Happy Holidays to you and your family! 🙂

You are welcome. 🙂 I hope you had a Merry Christmas too, and I hope you will have a Happy New Year too! 🙂 I am still trying to get used to the idea that 2017 is just a few days away. The time seems to pass by too quickly these days.

Thanks Arlene! Totally agree. Time is flying by. It’s really crazy how the years are just piling up, and that it is going to be 2020 in 3 years. Sounds like Science Fiction. haha. Happy New Year!

You are welcome, Kevin. I did not think that 2020 is only 3 years away until you mentioned it, and the year 2020 does sound like it could be a sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Where are the jet packs that we are supposed to have by now? 😀
Best wishes to you and your family in 2017 🙂

I have a jetpack! You don’t? haha I am sure in my kids’ lifetime, there will be some amazing advances in science. Hopefully though, the advances will bring humans together, and help bring some more stability to this world. Happy 2017!

Oh well, we can’t have it all. 😀 I think you are right, and I hope the scientific advances are positive ones too. Once again, Happy New Year, Kevin! 🙂

Absolutely stunning scenery. Some of these beaches look very like we have here in Cape Town 🙂 I’m glad you and your family managed a holiday and you got to take some beautiful photos. 🙂

Thank you! I think Cape Town has a lot of geographical similarities to California (from what I’ve read on the internet). It was a very nice trip. We like introducing our kids to the wilderness, and help them develop a respect and fondness for nature. How’s summer going?

I think it is more important than ever nowadays, to get the kids out of the house and away from technology for a while, to see and appreciate the natural world. 🙂
Summer is hotting up, but as it is much cooler than last December (38C most days then) I can’t complain! 🙂

Ah, takes me back! 32 years ago my wife-to-be and I spent the afternoon in Big Sur and then became officially engaged at spot half an hour away on Monterrey’s 17 Mile Drive. https://mitchteemley.com/2016/09/15/something-wonderfully-wrong/

Hi Angie! haha, no it hasn’t been that long. I think I may have mentioned my little dude before. His name is Flynn. 🙂 Thanks for the congrats and kind words! Yes, he is adorable. And, if I did not share the news before, my bad. I was hiding him from the internet for a little longer – he has a lifetime of the world wide web to deal with haha. Thanks again!

No worries, Kevin. I was just poking fun. 🙂 You’re right, little Flynn has a lifetime of internet to deal with. I can see why you’d want to keep him away from it for a while. Congrats again!

It is hard work to have toddlers, so understandable, that you don’t find time to post so much, Kevin. Really a beautiful place, as you visited, I could use days there, just enjoying the view and maybe come a little closer to the see 🙂

Wonderful photos, as usual. Your photo of the Dream Fort shows that you still can see the world through the eyes of a little boy.. A gift indeed. Your enthusiasm for all the beauty that God has given us to admire and appreciate is inspiring. Always enjoy your trips and keep the photos coming!

Thank you! I try my best to view the world from a sense of wonderment and innocence. It is not easy sometimes, that’s for sure. But, when I visit places like Big Sur – I am amazed at the beauty that the world has to offer us. 🙂
